Heldair Maritiem 2007Words and photographs Remco Donselaar On 15th September Heldair Maritiem was held at Den Helder Airport and MVK De Kooy. It was the first time the whole airfield was accessible during an open day and a small air show was held from 13.00h till 16.30h. Den Helder Airport is located in the northern part of The Netherlands and several company`s are based here. They are mainly operating helicopters for transport tasks between Oil Rigs at the North Sea and Den Helder Airport. An other company is Skyline Aviation operating L-39`s. The Military part `De Kooy` is the only operational naval air base in The Netherlands. Based here is 7 Squadron, operating the Westland SH-14D Lynx. The Lynx however is at the end of his lifecycle and will be replaced by the NH-90 in 2-3 years. In fact, the first production NH-90 for the Navy was present at the show in a light grey livery. It wastoo bad it didn`t fly but it was one of the stars of the show together with a Polish Navy SH-2G. Other participants were some demo teams like the Royal Jordanian Falcons, The Blades and Team Breitling. Offcourse the Navy showed what their tasks are and one of their demostrations was a BBE demostration were hostages were released from a coach. Together with the splendid weather it was a pleasant afternoon at the Kooy to finish the 2007 air show season. |
