ELITE 2007Words and photographs Nico van Remmerden For more than 10 years the German Air force (GAF) promulgated the exercise ELITE (Electronic Warfare Live Training Exercise) for training electronic combat of ground and air-based weapon system. ELITE 2007 is a complex and high value education opportunity for air and ground crews who perform their duties within the realm of electronic air combat.with sophisticated and reality based scenarios,ELITE emphasizes deployment readiness education and training for flying crews and ground-based-air defence systems command and support personnel as well as their respective tactical air commands ELITE raises the confidence level of the combat crews,and thus improves their overall sustainability and survivability capability. Though support of German Air Force technical engineers and by using live CHAFF and FLARES in combination with tactical manoeuvres, reality-based scenarios provide participants the opportunity to develop and practice as well as to test and verify new tactical procedures.
