Mihail Kogalniceanu was the last base we would visit as there was the Romanian International Air Show 2006 taking place. We arrived there early on the friday morning ahead of the large group that was at Fetesti that morning.
With heavy showers in the very early morning at first the weather didn't look like it would become better, but when we arrived the sun came out and the temperature raised quickly.
After a short welcome we where assigned to a Campia-Turzii based Lancer C pilot who walked us to the static area. We got the opportunity to walk where we wanted and made good use of that!
Around 13:00 the international press conference was being held and we awaited the large group from Fetesti.
When they arrived a complete storm started and the water was coming even into the building where we waited. After the meeting we where somewhat chaoticly driven to the static area once more, but with more restrictions as during our morning tour, we waited with some coffee and coke for the group to finish their shooting before we left the base for our last night in Constanta.
We had a great first day at Mihail Kogalniceanu and where looking forward to the show the next day!
After our first day at the base it was time for Air Show Action on the Saturday!
We looked forward to some nice solodisplays of the Romanian LanceR's but since the show was opened with the Forte Ariele Romana flypast and solo's of the LanceR A and Lancer C, the sun was facing in the lens directly and, sadly, prevented making good shots of this rare moments.
During the day the sun turned in a better position and so the PC-7 team was the first display of the show where the light became in our favour.
Sadly the Hungarian MiG29UB that was on the programm went tech and was towed to the static area the night before, same for the Spanish Hornets that would have been on display the Saturday. Late in the afternoon the Spanish sended replacements for the two jets initially planned but we missed the solo display as it was on the sunday only.

We would like to thank one person in special for the effort she made in organizing such a big event with so many participating media and that is Captain Commander Liliane Tanese of the Public Relations Office - Headquaters Romanian Air Force. Without her efforts this all would not have been possible.
