The PC-7 Solodisplay originates back to 1995 when the first display was flown in a 100% operational aircraft. Nowadays the PC-7 still flies in it's original colors but for better visibility during the display, smoke generators are attached to underwing pylons. The display pilot for the 2005 season is Captain Gijs Janssen from 131 EMVO (Elementaire Vliegers Opleiding - Elementary Pilot Training) Squadron based at Woensdrecht.

The PC-7 is in service with the KLu (Koninklijke Luchtmacht) since 1989. With an initial order for 10 and a second order for 3 in 1997 makes a total of 13 in use with 131 EMVO Sqn. It is used for elementary flying training for all student pilots for the Dutch Navy and Air Force. The Air Force also use them for advanced flying training.
