J-016 the end of an era..
The Royal Netherlands Airforce’s F16 display team has been based at Air Force base Leeuwarden since January 2003.
The team comprised of personnel from both 322 and 323 Squadrons, the 2 F16 squadrons based at Leeuwarden.
Now the Team will go to Volkel AB and the J-016 will be replaced by a new airframe.

On the 27th of October we had the last opportunity to see the world famous F-104 in action for the last time. Kleine Brogel air base organized an informal BAF F-104 pilot meeting together with a spotters day for the reveal of an F-104 monument that would, mid-November, be placed at a roundabout in Peer, a town near the base.

On 22 October Michael went to Florennes to see the 5 TLP course of 2004. It was the first time French Rafale's joined the TLP. Together with some older types and good weather this resulted in the following photo report.

From September 20th till October 4th the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) deployed six F-16’s from Tengah Air Force Base in Singapore, to Base Aerien 102 Dijon in France, for a joined exercise named Western Arc 2004.

NATO airbase Geilenkirchen in Germany hosted from September 13 till September 24 various NATO AWACS aircraft to participate in JOTM 2004. JOTM stands for: "Joint Tactical Information Distribution System Operators' Tactics Meet".

On September 18th and 19th the last big commemoration of operation Market Garden took place near Arnhem. After 60 years most of the surviving veterans are too old or past away, so one last big event was organized to honour them.

One of the best Air Shows in 2004 was Air04 in Payerne, Switzerland.
This show was held at the weekend of 4 and 5 September, so you can say they keep the best for the last.
Michael and Remco went out for the first time together to report this show.

Royal International Air Tattoo 2004
On the 17th and 18th of July the worlds biggest military Air Show was held at
RAF Fairford. Always one of the best Air Shows in Europe, the prices are high
but you will get were you paid for!
Remco and Marcel were present here for the first time.

NOMAD is a Belgian Air Force inspired multi-national air defence training exercise which has been held annually at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire since the first exercise took place back in the summer of 1994.
The exercise is centred upon the British Aerospace (BAe) North Sea ACMI Range which has it’s main debrief facility based at Waddington.

This year, the Belgian Air Component celebrated the Alpha Jet 25th anniversary. And for this occasion a NATO trainer meet was organized on June the 29th at Beavechain Airbase.
The host, 11 smaldeel, applied a special colour scheme for the 25th anniversary of operations with the Alpha Jet in the Belgian Air component

The Royal Netherlands Air force holds their open days every year in June. This year Volkel airbase was pointed to organize them. At the 18 th and 19 th of June were the show days, the day before all aircraft arrived, some pictures are of that day.
