The last TLP course of this year was held from November 6th until December 1st.The participation of both F16`s and Tornado`s from Italy,German Phantoms and (possibly for the last time) Jaguars of the RAF was reason enough for Michael and Remco to go to Florennes at November 16th.

On September 2nd and 3rd, 2006 Beauvechain Airbase hosted the 5th Belgium Defence days. These days are organised by the different Belgium Armed Forces to show the people their material, tasks and coorporation. It's also an opportunity to recruit young people.

Touchdown Aviation Goes Romania

2006 marked the 100th anniversary of flight in Romania. To celebrate this milestone the Romanian Air Force (Fortele Ariene Romane) organized an Air Show at Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base situated 30 kilometer of the Black Sea Coast. Prior to the Air Show a press tour was organized to all active Air Force Bases throughout Romania and Touchdown Aviation was one of the organizations invited.

Royal International Air Tattoo 2006

For the third year in succession Touchdown Aviation was present at the Royal International Air Tattoo. This years show was held in the weekend of July 15 and 16 2006 at RAF Fairford, UK. With a low cloud base starting in the morning, but clear blue skies later on with temperatures rising up to 30 degrees during both days, it were perfect conditions for excellent air show photography!

The weekend of July the 3rd and 4th saw two airshows relatively close to each other; Cambrai and Koksijde.

Koksijde was the first to be attended. Being home to the Belgian Defense - Air Component Search and Resque assets in the form of the well known Sea King and the Alouette 3.

After more than fifty years service, the Royal Air Force has finally retired the English Electric Canberra.
Touchdown-Aviation were at RAF Marham on the 23rd June 2006 to witness the Canberra PR9s of 39 (1 PRU) arrive back to there home base from the final ever deployment that marked the end of operational service for the Canberra.

The live exercise ELITE 2006 (which stands for "Electronic Live Training Exercise") is conducted from the 3rd of may untill the 18th of may 2006 in the south of Germany at the Military Training Area Heuberg, in Baden-Würtemberg Land.
41 Squadron goes reserve

41 Squadron goes reserve

Last Saturday, April 1st 2006, the RAF Coltishall based 41 Squadron formally disbanded after almost 90 years of service. The squadron standard was handed over to the FJ&W OEU who will keep the Squadron`s long traditions as 41 (Reserve) Squadron based at RAF Coningsby.

Exercise Brilliant Arrow 2006, an annual live flying NATO exercise, took place over North West Europe from 27th of March until the 7th of April 2006. Specific exercise areas were located in the North Sea, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The first TLP of 2006 started in January was visited on the 25th of that month. With four Phantoms participating it was a nice start of the new season. Our first visit was a cancelled mission, so a second visit was made on the 30th. Clear blue skies on a very cold day produced some nice photos.
