In 1997, a small team headed by Dr Robert Pleming started to put together an audacious plan to return her to flight, but it was clear from the start that the project would be technically challenging and enormously expensive. Never deterred, the team set off down the path that led to XH558's return to the air.

The Early Birds Foundation aims to preserve the heritage of 'early birds' by carefully restoring and rebuilding aircraft and engines. The collection consists of some twenty sometimes rare and not commonly known types of aircraft. A number of these are in airworthy condition and are flown regularly, others are awaiting restoration or are under (re-) construction.

The European Federation Historic Aviation is a true European initiative and is being founded to ensure a future for historic aviation. It creates bonds between European countries and brings European citizens together around a common goal; Historic Aviation

The National Federation Historical Aircraft was founded in 1992 by a number of visionaries in this field. The federation is the partner in the Netherlands who represents the members in talks with the authorities for better regulations and understanding for this important part of history.
