The 323 Squadron is responsible for the TACTES-role for all F-16 pilots of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force).
TACTES stands for Tactical Training Evaluation and Standaristion.
This means that the 323 Squadron has the repsonsibility for all tactical training, evaluation, standardiztion and the development of tactics for the F-16´s of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht and other NATO partners.
The roles of the 323 TACTES Squadron:
- Fighter Weapon Instructor Training (FWIT); Training and eduction of wapeninstructors. This is a 6 month international course.
- Dutch Weapon Instructor Course (DWIC); Training and eduction of wapeninstructors. This is a 6 month course for Dutch pilots only.
- Integrated Combat Training (ICT); The trainig of operational pilots and specialists during large exersises like “Frisian Flag”.
A large number of NATO partners normaly participate during this exersises.
- Standardization & Evaluation (STAN/EVAL); To be sure that all F-16 units work on the same standards in the Koninklijke Luchtmacht, every F-16 squadron gets regular evaluations.
- Mid Life Update F-16; The 323 TACTES Squadron has a team of pilots en specialists (the ready team) available, that converts squadrons from the F-16A to the F-16MLU. At this moment this only takes place at Volkel Airbase.
- Knowledge centre; The 323 TACTES Squadron developed itself as a knowledge centre on operational level.
Especially air combat has their attention.
- Operational Training & Evaluation (OT&E); Operational training and evaluation of new hardware and software for the MLU F-16’s of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht and the Air Forces of Denmark, Norway, Belgium and the United States.
