As the ongoing budget cuts did also have his effect on the in 2004 disbanded 315 Squadron. 313 Squadron ceased operations at Twente in November 2005 and moved to Volkel AB. Twente will no longer be an military airbase from the end of 2007.

From april 1st 1994, 313 Squadron had a training task. Pilots that finished their training in the United States were made familiar with European airspace an procedures, the so called Tactical Qualification Training (TQT).

Next to that 313 Squadron was responsible for the Initial Qualification Training (IQT). Experienced fighterpilots that flew some time on antother type than the F-16 were made familiar on it again.

Finally the 313 Squadron also ran an F-16 refresher course for F-16 pilots that haven't flown a while., for example beacause they spent time at the headquatrers or other staff functions.

From November 2001, this role was taken over by 306 Squadron, stationed at Volkel. The 313 Squadron is operational as 'Main Defence Force´(MDF) squadron since October 2002 and gives as wel air-to-air support as air-to-ground support to other NATO units.

With the arrival of the F-16 and the change in role the unit badge changed from a young bird taking of from a runway to a Tiger symbol. Since October 1990 the squadron is a proud member of the NATO Tiger Squadron Community.
