303 Squadron Royal Netherlands Air Force
   

The 303 Search And Rescue (SAR) Squadron is the rescue unit of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force).
The SAR is based on Leeuwarden Air Base and consists of 3 Agusta Bell 412 SP helicopters and a team of 25 persons. The roles of the 303 SAR Squadron:

  • The main task is rescue of downed airmen from sea.
  • Transport of patiënts from the Wadden isles(exlcuding Texel) to hospitals on the shore.
  • Stand-by on Vlieland during exersises on the Vliehors range and life firing exersises above the Northsea.
  • They also assist the Coast Guard and offer help with major floodings or disasters.
There is a close cooperation between the SAR and the various rescue organistations along the Dutch (Wadden) coast like the Coast Guard and the Royal Navy. Exersises are being helt on a regular bases so that all the different rescue organisations know how to work together as a team.
