The 300 Squadron is, just as 298 Squadron, part of the Tactische Helikopter Groep (Tactical Helicopter Group). This consist of:
The Squadron has a stand-by role for ´Search and Rescue´ (SAR). If all SAR helicopters from 303 Squadron, Leeuwarden, are in use the Cougars can be called on to transport wounded or sick from the Dutch isles to the mainland. Furthermore the Squadron can support rescue-, crisis-, humanitarian and peacekeeping operations for national as well as international operations. The 300 Squadron also has a fire fighting role with the so called´Bambi-bucket´. The bambi-bucket can hold 2500 liters of water. Next to the Cougars, 300 Squadron also operates a flight of four Alouettes, these are mainly used for the Royal Family. |
