Soesterberg, a finale in style
On November 12th Soesterberg airbase -the oldest airfield in Europe and the second oldest in the world- ceased its function as military airbase. With the gates closing for good on December 31st this will end a historic period of 95 years of military aviation.
Cranfield Lighting
XS458 was delivered to the RAF during 1965, serving at RAF Coltishall with 145 Squadron and 226 OCU. She moved to RAF Binbrook during 1974 serving with numbers 5 and 11 Squadron and the Lightning Training Flight (LTF). Following retirement from service she was flown to Cranfield along with five other aircraft with the intention of operating a number of them in airworthy condition.
Axalp Fliegerschiessen
October 8th and 9th planned to be this year's Fire Power Demonstration of the Swiss Air Force. 2.200 meters above sea level the Swiss Air Force practice their air-to-ground gunnery skills at the Axalp-Ebenfluh range.
This year we had the unique possibility to witness the action opposite of the general public.
